3/22 to 3/28: Scotland's sweeping hate crime law, abortion rights under threat globally
And something awesome: a new woman-owned and woman-forward athletic apparel brand!
Call to Action
Increase awareness of the harms of teaching gender ideology in school. Gender Health Query is an LGB organization that has created helpful info packets to share with parent groups and schools in an effort to offset the false information promoted by Trans Rights Activist organizations.
Two organizations to consider supporting:
LGB Alliance fights homophobia perpetuated by gender ideology. Its latest campaign is to challenge homophobic policies on the app Grindr that allow straight women to force interaction with gay men (much the same way straight men force interaction with lesbians on other apps).
For Women Scotland campaigns on the cause of clarifying in law that sex is a biological term, not a term that should be defined by ideology. The group is currently arguing that gender diversity quotas for filling public boards, meant to increase participation by women, should not include men who identify as women.
Erasing Women, LGB, and Their Spaces
3/28 - The Women’s Bill of Rights withstands its first legal challenge
A win from the hard work of WoLF and Independent Women’s Voice!
It absolutely sucks that prisons are a hotbed for the issue trans-identifying male invaders because prisoners are probably the population that politicians care the least about.
3/22 - Pheasants are ‘queer’, museum tells visitors in LGBT exhibition
Now they’re erasing female pheasants, too. From Dr. Emma Hilton, in defense of pheasants, “Often in the process of ageing, female animals can produce male features as a result of hormonal changes, we can also see this in humans following the menopause, but we would not say that older women had changed sex if they have a bit of a moustache.” Oh no… countdown until a gender ideologue turns this around to cite menopause as proof against the sex binary.
3/22 - Planet Fitness assigns employee to chaperone transgender client in female changing area
As the pendulum continues to swing back from gender ideology craziness, how will companies like Planet Fitness that embarass themselves fare? Seems like a gamble to grovel at the feet of a population that has fewer and fewer supporters.
Silencing Girls, Women, and Their Allies
3/23 - Sex and gender conference disrupted after protesters 'threw smoke bombs' as police rush to the scene
This FAILED attempt to stop a one-day conference by the Clinical Advisory Network on Sex and Gender (CAN-SG) highlights how Trans Rights Activists heavily rely on suppression of scientfic evidence and critical discourse to promote their cause. We’re happy to say that the conference continued despite disruptions, and no injuries were reported. Another bright spot? Police genuinely worked hard to keep Trans Rights Activist protesters from interrupting the event. In a change of pace, this time the alleged leader of the TRA protesters was a woman.
Males in Female Sports
New Athletic Apparel Brand Hits the Market
Check it out: XX-XY has just launched this week. It’s a woman-owned business that believes in the power of stating the truth. Owner Jennifer Sey has a long history of speaking out against injustices faced by female atheltes. Explore the website, which greets you with a poignant campaign message, here.
3/28 - Biden Title IX rules on trans athletes set for election-year delay
In other words, the Biden administration knows the majority of Americans oppose men in women’s sports. They want to drop this topic like a hot potato while it can hurt Biden in the polls, only to force the legislation after sealing a win in the election?
Even while LARPing as female, these boys can’t control their urge to dominate girls. Apparently this team has had trans players in its roster for the last two decades.
3/27 - Love of the game: Trans NH Rebellion player is in her element on women’s tackle football team
It seems this 38-year-old “intersex” man is welcomed by his teammates.
3/25 - BBC Elite British Sportswomen's Study 2024: Athletes on ‘difficult’ transgender debate
No matter how hard Trans Rights Activists try to make you believe that you are part of a prudish, reactionary minority for questioning their ideology, always remember that your feelings are, in fact, in line with an overwhelming majority of society.
Oh, come on. This feels straight out a bad comedy movie. Pictured below is the rightful winner, Katie Sheldon, whose prize was stolen by a con man.
Sexual Assault and Exploitation
3/22 - West Virginia Governor Signs Law Removing Marital Assault Exemption
Good news from West Virginia. Only ten more states to go!
Reproductive Rights
3/25 - Supreme Court to Decide Fate of Access to Abortion Pill Mifepristone
If the FDA’s approval of Mifepristone is revoked, an approval that has been in place for nearly a quarter of a century, the pill can no longer be mailed, prescribed via telehealth, or used past seven weeks gestation in the US. The anti-abortion argument is that the safety of the drug was not adequately tested, as evident by the fact that a significant proportion of women (4%) end up in the emergency room after use of Mifepristone. Defenders challenge this assertion, and remind us that OTC drugs like Tylenol cause more medical emergencies than Mifepristone. Medication-induced pregnancy termination is the primary method of abortion in the US. The good news is that it doesn’t appear that the Justices believe this suit holds much weight. And in hearing arguments, the women among the Justices demonstrated that women are generally more knowledgeable about this topic than dudes.
3/23 - How rightwing groups used junk science to get an abortion case before the US supreme court
This article is a convenient complement to the one linked directly below it (“Foetal sentience”) in this newsletter. Bad, politically-motivated science is a serious threat to society, and it’s one that exists across every field dealing with human health. There needs to be more of a conversation about raising the bar for research with measures like inhibiting conflicts of interest and funding more research designed specifically to attempt to replicate research that claim significant findings.
3/22 - Foetal sentience committee plan branded a ploy to ‘roll back abortion rights’
Personal (possibly unpopular) opinion: If we’re being consistent, then we cannot protest Lord Moylan’s assertion that there should be more “evidence and expertise about the sentience of human foetuses in light of developments in science and medicine.” We reject the efforts of Trans Rights Activists suppressing research, and we should reject efforts to suppress research around reproductive health and fetal development in fear of how it impacts political arguments. If evidence is to be criticized, it is to be criticized for being bad, not inconvenient, evidence. And arguments around women’s autonomy and choice will stand regardless.
3/22 - Texas Medical Board proposes emergency abortion guidance for doctors
Amazing that this kind of thought didn’t occure before enacting a sweeping ban.
3/22 - 13-year-old rape victim has baby amid confusion over state's abortion ban
There are so many ways that this is unfair: that this girl was assaulted. That this little girl had no choice in carrying a pregnancy, going through the pains of birth, and now raising a baby from the savage that assaulted her. That a child has come into this world having to someday resolve his/her tragic conception. That the child-mom’s own mom, already struggling to make ends meet for her family, now carries the load of supporting a new baby while also teaching her 13-year-old to parent and addressing the unbelievable pain of this whole event with the teen.
News Impacting Society and Children
3/27 - Scottish Parliament joins list of employers pulling out of Stonewall diversity programme
Perhaps surprising news as Scotland also prepares to enact its Hate Crime and Public Order Act on April 1st, a law which will subject individuals to persecution and prosecution for saying “mean” things regarding race, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, or transgender identity. Notice how sex itself is not deemed a characteristic for which people can receive hate. You will find more thoughts on the hate crime bill in our commentary section below.
3/26 - Florida passes law requiring age verification for porn sites, social media restrictions
I think what’s most interesting, and hopeful, about this measure is that it received bipartisan support. The loudest critics of this law and similar ones around the US are a Big Tech trade organization and “an advocacy organization for the First Amendment rights of adult businesses.” In other words, it’s not really We the People who are putting up a fight.
3/24 - New legal challenge aims to restrict private gender clinics for teenagers
Buckle in, everyone, these battles are likely to continue through the decade. And that is to say nothing of the legal and medical reckoning yet to occur in North America. In Ohio, for example, the ACLU has brought suit to challenge the ban of “gender-affirming care” for minors.
3/23 - Sex reassignment in minors may be medical history’s ‘greatest ethical scandal’, French report says
France is the latest country to realize that the Kool-Aid they’ve been drinking is blue- and pink-dyed urine.
This guy does a great job alienating even more voters, this time women, with all his gross misogynistic comments (“ewh, naked grandma” analogy, “preachy females,” champagne cork removal and woman’s sexual moaning analogy). Sometimes it’s hard to tell which party is trying harder to lose this year’s election.
3/21 - Sydney’s first dedicated affordable housing for transgender women to be built in Darlinghurst
The comment section over on The Daily Mail publication of this headline best sums up the feelings of the public.
Beyond the West
3/27 - UN picks Saudi Arabia to lead women’s rights forum despite ‘abysmal’ record
Is it just me, or does it feel like our global leadership, “The Powers That Be,” are outright mocking us these days?
3/27 - 50 years after the former Yugoslavia protected abortion rights, that legacy is under threat
Ultra-conservatives in Croatia, much like ultra-conservatives in the US, are working overtime to roll back reproductive rights for women in the country.
3/24 - ‘Truth behind the myths’: Amazon warrior women of Greek legend may really have existed
I always love seeing ancient evidence of women warriors. When you think about it, humans are unique in believing that women are inherently frail, fragile decorations incapable of holding their own or warding off predators. Look at every other animal in the world - lions, bears, chimpanzees, falcons, sharks, etc. Females fight and hunt just as hard as males.
3/23 - Medieval Christian misogyny shapes how we judge women today, says scholar
This article reviews a dissertation that dives into the push for female modesty in Christianity, and it is not unlike the emphasis on female modesty we see in other popular religions. The norms and beliefs this philosophy created are still pervasive today, particularly ideas equating female beauty to a scheming personality or an invitation for sexual assault.
