27 Aug, 2024 - Female strength athletes welcome Alberta's changes to women's sports
In a vaguely worded article that remains imprecise about what changes were made, Canadian Weightlifting announces changes to “improve fairness” to women in the sport. The Canadian Powerlifting Union (CPU) introduced new rules regarding transgender athletes. The updated policy now requires athletes to prove that their testosterone levels have been below a specific threshold for 24 months before competing in women's categories. Such moves in the past have failed to prevent male athletes from having an unfair advantage over female athletes as males who have undergone male puberty have significant advantages over women that the reduction of testosterone does not eliminate. Furthermore, some female athletes naturally produce levels of testosterone that exceed set standards and are often eliminated from competing in the women’s category, the category of their sex.

26 Aug, 2024 - Male golfer Hailey Davidson is slammed by former LPGA player Amy Olson as he competes at Q School
Haily Davidson is a man playing golf in the women’s category. He complains that the criticism about him is unfair. Regardless of what hormones or surgeries men have, they still have significant physical advantages over women which make their presence in women’s sports unfair to the women. Women’s sports was created because it was the only way women had any chance at fair competitions. The presence of men in women’s categories destroys the intent of creating fair competitions for women.

26 Aug, 2024 - ‘I miss home’: 13-year-old Nigerian girls trapped and exploited in Ivory Coast sex industry
Trafficking is a major crisis in Nigeria, with between 750,000 and 1 million people forced into begging, prostitution, domestic servitude, armed conflict and labour exploitation. Some of those are being trafficked out of the country. There are thousands of Nigerian women and girls being exploited in the sex industry across towns and cities in Ivory Coast. Many are lured with promises of jobs only to be forced into sex trafficking, kept in perpetual debt to their handlers to prevent them from leaving.
Amnesty International changed the wording on their website linked in the title. The original web publication has been preserved in an archive.
“Identifying as female” suggests it is a choice. The women in Afghanistan and everywhere in the world do not choose to be women, they are women. The Taliban knows they are women. The women can not identify as men or anything other than women because they simply are women. Being oppressed is never a choice. Ovarit mass response.
Amnesty updated to read “just for being women and girls.”

29 Aug, 2024 - ‘Witch-hunt’: BMA tries to identify who leaked planned opposition to Cass review
The British Medical Association (BMA) has been accused of undertaking a “witch-hunt” to try to identify which senior figure leaked that it was set to oppose the landmark Cass review on transgender healthcare. It has warned its ruling council’s 69 members that whoever tipped off the media about its stance should own up or face their non-cooperation being seen as “an act of dishonesty”. The BMA has been heavily criticised by key medical figures since it voted on 17 July to in effect reject Dr Hilary Cass’s report. It is the only medical organisation in the UK to not accept and find fault with her findings, which were accepted by the last government and its Labour successor.

Roxanne Tickle proves that trans rights now trump women’s rights
The war on women’s spaces - Roxanne Tickle’s legal triumph is nothing to giggle at
In 1995’s Nattering on the Net, Australian feminist Dale Spender explored the way in which online spaces were creating new possibilities for female interaction. “Women’s speech is generally restricted and restrained when men are around,” she wrote. This is why women need women-only places where they can say what they think without fear of harassment or intimidation. It’s why women need everything from women’s studies to women’s refuges in real life; and why they need women-only networks online.
