Last week, the court cleared nurse Sandie Peggie of charges of misconduct based on her objection to “Beth” Upton 👨🏻, a male doctor saying he’s a woman, being in the female changing room. This week, NHS Fife’s lawyers are back in court defending against Sandie’s complaints for sexual harassment, belief discrimination and victimisation. The whole tribunal is turning into a monkey trial. First, we got this gem from NHS Fife equalities officer Isla Bumba, who testified:

“I don’t know anything about Beth’s body. I didn’t at the time. I don’t now. I don’t need to know… Nor do I know what my own body is made of biologically. Hazard a guess that I would be female, but no one knows what their chromosomes are, or their hormonal composition, unless you’ve had that tested, and I at least have not and I’m not sure if Beth has.”

July 21 - This Correctional Officer Refused to Strip-Search Men. The State Made Her Pay

Danielle Laurenti, a MA female correctional officers and a sexual assault survivor, told her superiors she wouldn’t comply with rules requiring her to strip search male inmates who say they’re women. The Department then retaliated by reassigning her to standard housing duty, dragging into a disciplinary hearing, and blacklisting her from promotions. She has now filed a class action suit.

July 21 - (Canada) Fired B.C. nurse launches human rights complaints

Amy Hamm filed two human rights complaints with the BC Human Rights Tribunal against the B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives for firing her after she publicly shared her gender critical views as a nurse on their staff.

July 22 - Transgender athlete sues Princeton University over alleged discrimination

“Sadie” Schreiner (a 👨, obviously) is suing the school, accusing Princeton of violating New Jersey anti-discrimination laws for barring him from competing in the women's 200 meters at the Larry Ellis Invitational. Under NJ law, which designates 'gender identity or expression' as a protected status, he might win. OTOH, the NJ court might stay the case pending the Supreme Court’s decision on the appeals from Idaho and West Virginia on whether states can ban males who say they’re women 👨from participating in women’s sports. Even with SCOTUS taking up the issue, what’s not clear is whether states have the right to allow men identifying as women 👨 to participate, or will SCOTUS rule that male participation is a violation of Title IX. Anyway, stay tuned.

July 18 - Paxton sues adult swimming organization that allowed trans women to compete in Texas race

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) sued U.S. Masters Swimming after it allowed two transgender women to compete alongside cisgender women at a San Antonio competition in April. According to Paxton, the organization violated Texas’s Deceptive Trade Practices Act because “consumers did not know that biological men were competing in the women’s events.” Further, it “swindled countless women and it must be held accountable.” Yeah, Paxton! You tell them!
