May 30 - Decision in Olympus Spa v. Armstrong
Men in women spas: California and Washington State courts rule that yes, men can use women’s spas when they say they are women.
This is very bad news, and deals a huge blow to women’s and girls safety and right to privacy and single sex spaces. It is also a set back for traditional Korean spas which are an important cultural tradition for women (and separately, men). The Olympus Spa is a traditional Korean spa outside of Seattle. In line with Korean tradition, nudity is expected (and, in some instances, required).
This is also going to be bad for business, as I foresee more male creeps will come into women’s spas, and more women will stay away.

On May 29, in a 2-1 decision of a 3-judge panel, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit affirmed a lower court decision that a Washington state law prohibits a female-only spa from excluding men (specifically, men who have penises). One judge published a dissenting opinion. WDI USA, which had filed a friend-of-the-court (amicus) brief before the Ninth Circuit, was not surprised by this decision. Read more here.
June 1 - Exclusive: WiSpa Suspect Not Guilty on All Nine Counts of Indecent Exposure
The not guilty verdict for Darren Merager was read aloud to an audience of one in the Los Angeles courtroom gallery. Gone were the leftist activists and black clad ‘SoCal Antifa’ militants who attacked conservative demonstrators outside WiSpa in the name of “smashing transphobia.” Gone were the Christian conservatives and self-identifying trans-exclusionary feminists who found common cause, protesting for traditional women’s spaces in July of 2021. Gone were all the other reporters.
Pronoun discipline was a Herculean task throughout the month of the trial. The defense attorney and judge constantly shifted between referring to Merager as “he” and “she” and Merager’s attributes as “his penis” and “her penis.” Deputy Prosecutor Karen Montoya only slipped up once over the 4 week ordeal and quickly apologized, correcting herself after straying from genderless terminology. Merager was unoffended, as the defendant accepts being referred to by both sets of pronouns. The jury was asked to decide, by official language, if the defendant exposed “himself/herself” with the intent of sexual gratification.

June 2 - Transgender Acquitted in LA Korean Spa Exposure Case Despite Past Sex Crime Convictions
A Los Angeles County Superior Court jury has acquitted Darren Agee Merager, the transgender woman 🍆 at the center of the widely publicized 2021 Wi Spa incident, citing insufficient evidence of sexual intent. The case has drawn renewed attention to California’s Gender Recognition Act and the legal complexities surrounding transgender access to gendered spaces.
Merager, a 55-year-old biological male who is legally registered as female, was charged with five counts after allegedly exposing genitalia in the women’s section of Wi Spa, a Korean American-operated spa in Los Angeles, in June 2021. The incident gained national attention after video footage taken by a customer circulated widely on social media.
At the time, Merager was reportedly sitting nude in the spa’s jacuzzi, prompting other female patrons to call the police. Prosecutors claimed the exposure was intentional and sexually motivated, but the jury rejected this argument.
On May 30, jurors deliberated for just 90 minutes before finding Merager not guilty. They concluded that the prosecution failed to prove intent to arouse or offend. Testimonies from key witnesses were inconsistent, and the video did not clearly show signs of arousal—an element central to the charges.
This is insane. So if a man’s exposed penis is not erect, no harm no foul? This is the feckin’ law! But wait there’s more…
Merager has prior convictions for indecent exposure in 2002 and 2003 and was added to the sex offender registry in 2006. However, those past offenses were not enough to support a conviction in the Wi Spa case under current California law.
Why keep a sex offender registry if it means nothing?

June 4 - Two males who identify as transgender crush female athletes in BC powerlifting … AGAIN
Trans-identifying biological males Audrey Yun and Stacey Beting took first place in their weight categories for multiple sports at the British Columbia Powerlifting Lifting Association's provincial competition.
Yun swept the entire women’s 84kg+ category by ranking first in squat, bench, and deadlift, with a total of 500 kilograms lifted — an astonishing 90 kilograms (198 lbs) more than the top female lifter in the same weight class.
Stacey Beting, another male-born competitor who identifies as a trans-woman, dominated the 69kg women’s squat competition by placing first. In total, Beting lifted 27.5 kilograms (61 lbs) more than the strongest female in the same weight category.
But, wait, I thought biological men had no advantage? Grrrr!

Rothenberger is biologically male. At nine, Rothenberger's mother applied in district court to alter her child's birth certificate after their ninth birthday, with the petition being approved, per Reduxx.

Male pitcher Marissa (Charlie) Rothenberger just fired back-to-back shutout games, 14 shutout innings, holding last year’s state championship team scoreless and leading his team to the Minnesota Section AAAA Softball Championship, and their first trip to the state tournament. Reminder: softball is one of the sports created by Title IX specifically to expand opportunities for girls.

A transgender athlete told his critics to 'get a life' after he was booed for dominating a girl's state track championship in Washington.
Veronica Garcia (not his real name) of East Valley of Spokane won the 400m by nearly a second at the championships on Saturday. Garcia also helped his school win the 4x100m relay.
In 2024, Garcia became the first transgender 👨🏼 athlete in Washington State to win a girl’s state track title and this weekend the 17-year-old male was heckled by fans for the second year in a row.

May 30 - World Boxing to introduce mandatory sex testing for all boxers
World Boxing will introduce mandatory sex testing, to determine the eligibility of male and female athletes that want to take part in its competitions. The introduction of mandatory testing will be part of a new policy on “Sex, Age and Weight” to ensure the safety of all participants and deliver a competitive level playing field for men and women.
My understanding is the correct term is sex screening, as the cheek swab administered is screening for genetic material. It is a good idea to use the term screening, as it can perhaps keep insane people from carrying on about men having to pull their pants down. I can assure everyone, we don’t want to see men with their pants down outside a boxing ring, or see them punching women in the face inside a boxng ring.
World Boxing called out Khelif
“Imane Khelif may not participate in the female category at the Eindhoven Box Cup, 5-10 June 2025 and any World Boxing event until Imane Khelif undergoes genetic sex screening in accordance with World Boxing’s rules and testing procedures.”
And then later apologized to her. Yes, to her. (Make it make sense).
As part of its new policy World Boxing will reserve the right to do genetic sex screening on new or existing athlete samples to confirm certification.
The policy will include an appeals process. Support will be offered to any boxers that provide an adverse test result.
The new “Sex, Age and Weight” policy will come into force from 1 July 2025.

Pakistani police on Tuesday said a 17-year-old TikTok star was shot dead by a man who had repeatedly contacted her online.
Sana Yousaf, who turned 17 last week and had more than a million followers across her social media accounts, was killed at her home in the capital Islamabad on Monday evening.
The police have arrested a 22-year-old on suspicion of her murder who spent hours loitering outside her home.
“It was a gruesome and cold-blooded murder.”
Some comments under social media posts sharing the news of Yousaf’s murder suggested it was justified because of her social media career, in a society where honour codes restrict how women should behave.
