Oct 18 to 25: a rise in abortion, a hideous statue
And many more women and girls saying NO to playing against men and boys in their sports categories.

Good News for Women
Oct 18 - WoLF files in court to advocate for the rights of women and children
The first, US v. Skrmetti, argues for the ban of the administration of puberty-blockers and the prescription of cross-sex hormones as well as genital surgery for children. The second is an Amicus brief challenging a district court’s ruling against two women in the case Brown v. Alaska Airlines. These two women were fired for voicing their concern about the company’s support of gender ideology.
Erasing Women, LGB, and Their Spaces
Oct 24 - Rape centre breaks away from charity in row over gender
Another positive story about women pushing back. Glasgow and Clyde Rape Crisis has chosen to no longer associate with umbrella charity Rape Crisis Scotland. The Glasgow centre has now committed to providing both single-sex spaces for victims and a single-sex (i.e. all female) workforce.
The problems with police between the US and the UK couldn’t be more different. In the US, it’s hypermasculinity and brutality. In the Uk, it’s gender ideology and free speech suppression.
Males in Female Sports
Oct 24 - FA accused of making football ‘not fair or safe’ for women by inaction over transgender policy
In a refreshing development, this time it’s the elite criticzing the elite as Lord Triesman, who once chaired the Football Association (FA), challenges current leadership’s inaction on the issue of men playing as women in soccer. An example of that inaction, this story about a neurodivergent 17 year old banned from up to 12 matches for asking a bearded trans-identifying male player 🥸 if he was, indeed, a man.
Plot twist: the players in question are women attempting to transition into men. Much like with trans-identifying women who long to be pregnant, we have to ask why women so desperate to reject their inborn identity as female would want to play in the female category in sports? And how is not cheating to be taking man-like levels of testosterone, which boosts strength and endurance?
…and the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) still doesn’t care. Nor does the United States Golf Association (USGA), which similarly has a policy saying men can compete against women if they have had surgery and meet a specific hormone threshold. On the flipside in golf, a man who had the revelation that it wasn’t fair to compete against women.
Oct 21 - Catholic school's girl soccer team boycotts match against school with transgender goalie
Some of my favorite stories of resistance come from girls. Kudos to these high schoolers for choosing to forfeit over playing against a boy infiltrating their game!
WAHF darling Reem Alsalem, who serves as UN Special Rapporteur on Violence against Women and Girls, has issued an official recommendation for exclusively female-only sports teams for girls and women.
Oct 18 - Nevada volleyball players considering lawsuit against university, lawyer Joey Gilbert says
The University of Nevada at Reno (UNR) volleyball team is one of five teams that has refused matches against San Jose State, although they are the first to explicitly state their reason that it is unfair to play against San Jose’s biological man. While UNR has promised not to punish the players that choose not to attend the game, the school is also keeping the match on the calendar and will proceed as long as a minimum six players from the volleyball team show up. Other political expressions against the trans player have been thwarted, like this man’s attempt to wear a “Keep Women’s Sports Female” shirt at a game. Final status (as of Friday morning): match cancelled!
Reproductive Rights
Oct 22 - Abortions Have Increased, Even for Women in States With Rigid Bans, Study Says
Data is incomplete, and researchers are still making sense of the trend. Two explanations include an increase in availability through more clinics, including telehealth appointments, and the destigmatization of abortion due to increased visibility of the topic.
Oct 21 - The deaths from abortion bans you won't hear about
In two of the cases highlighted, the women who died had suffered from incomplete abortions after taking abortion pills ordered via mail. Doctors’ hands were tied in intervening due to the bans on pregnancy termination. In both cases, state committees ruled that the deaths of these women were preventable.
News Impacting Society and Children
Oct 24 - Trans charity Mermaids told to take down false claims on puberty blockers
This follows a 2022 inquiry opened on the charity. Mermaids has not only been forced to remove information deemed inaccurate (that puberty blockers are proven safe and reversible), but it has also been warned about its one-sided advice on chest binders.
Oct 23 - U.S. Study on Puberty Blockers Goes Unpublished Because of Politics, Doctor Says
This is a problem in academia in general, and it impacts social science research and medical (especially pharmacological) research the most - inconvenient conclusions get locked away.
Oct 22 - Harris says gender-affirming care decisions should be left to doctors and patients
She also says that we should “follow the law.” Typical vague, non-answer by a politician. The whole problem is that the medical establishment and the trans-friendly laws enacted in many jurisdictions are harmful - to girls, women, and trans-identifying patients themselves. So just blindly following what ideologically-driven doctors, judges, and elected officials say is NOT a solution. Meanwhile, Republicans have cynically latched onto gender ideology as low-hanging fruit to attack the Democrats. Their track record on women’s rights and supporting the health and wellbeing of children is absolutely abysmal, but at least they agree that men shouldn’t play alongside women in sports, right? Right?? /s
Oct 18 - How the Cass Review has reshaped care for transgender children
This status update is worth a full read. An interesting point in the article: most of the attempts to discredit the Cass review originated in the United States. It’s a heavy reminder that dismantling gender ideology in American institutions will prove a much tougher battle than the already-tough battle our European cousins have had to fight.

Oct 18 - Councillor calls for ‘bound woman’ sculpture at Cambridge station to be removed
Following the removal of another statue, the Councillor Naomi Bennett has rightfully called into question whether a statue of a bound woman should be removed from Cambridge Station. The statue uses the inspiration of a figure, Greek goddess Ariadne, who appears in classic paintings and other artistic works. The modern artist take in front of the train station was to throw a sheet and ropes over the figure. Councillor Bennet asks what message this sends.
