Sept 6 to 12: Scrutinizing surrogacy and sex tourism
And more news outlets begin discussing sexual exploitation and pornography through commentary.
Calls to Action

Erasing Women, LGB, and Their Spaces
Sept 12 - Rape crisis centre failed to protect women-only spaces - report
The disgraceful ending to Mridul Wadhwa’s story arc at Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre is nearly complete. In happier news, here is an article highlighting the nearly $2 billion investment JK Rowling has made in an alternative service that is truly a safe place for women.
Silencing Women, Girls, and Our Allies
Sept 7 - Greens suspend health spokesperson over trans remarks
Pallavi Devulapalli has been suspended for making the outrageous declaration that sex and gender are different concepts, and that skepticism of gender ideology is not based in conservative views on how people choose to dress.
Males in Female Sports
Sept 11 - New Zealand Olympians call for review of transgender guidelines
This call is for community-level sports, which is great since women who play sports as recreation have zero protections otherwise since there is far less of an audience.
Sept 9 - High School Refusing To Play Next Game After Transgender Athlete Injury
A girl’s team from Dighton-Rehoboth High School is bravely refusing to face another high school with a trans-identifying boy 🥸 who, in a game last year, seriously injured one of Dighton-Rehoboth’s players. Impressively, the school is standing behind the girls and declaring they should not face punishment for refusing to play against the opposite sex.
Reproductive Rights
Good! The audacity of these men to literally treat surrogacy like the exclusive sale of a human life. Human attachment is far more complex than they realized, clearly, and I’m pleasantly surprised that the Court recognizes these nuances. Read this excellent commentary by Jo Bartosch for a deeper dive into the implications of surrogacy.
Sept 9 - DeSantis goes all-in against Florida's abortion rights amendment
Governor DeSantis, in a departure from the slightly softer stance on abortion taken by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, is continuing to fight hard against expanding reproductive rights in Florida. As the public becomes more aware of the serious consequences of denying women reproductive healthcare, the Republicans will only continue to lose appeal.
News Impacting Society and Children
Sept 12 - Official estimate of trans population in England and Wales dropped by ONS
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) included in its 2021 census survey the question, “Is the gender you identify with the same as your sex registered at birth?“ This question, later analysis found, may have been misunderstood by those for whom English is not a first language. ONS is now stating its estimate of the trans population from the census is an “experimental” figure, rather than an official statistic, due to this error.
Sept 10 - Government makes HUGE gender demand of Australian sporting clubs, holding funding back as ransom
Nope, not hopping on board for this one. The Australian government is asking that sports organizations ensure at least half their boards are comprised of women or “gender-diverse” people. We all know what the latter means.
Sept 7 - BMA stance on Cass review of transgender care ‘has damaged its reputation’
The political group DoctorsVote is allegedly influencing the British Medical Association’s opinion that the Cass review holds no weight. I think it’s worth a deep dive to do some sleuthing to see who/what is behind DoctorsVote. Non-zero chance there are people directly involved in trans “medicine.”
Sept 7 - Mom jailed for opposing reunification between kids and ex accused of rape
Usually we hear about men who argue that the family court system is rigged. Here is an important argument by women that highlights how the court system potentially puts children at risk.
When did gatekeeping become a bad word? Maybe if these organizations did a better job rooting out pedophiles, the general public would be less likely to associate their ideology with grooming.
Beyond the West
Sept 11 - Afghan women meet in Albania in ‘act of defiance’ against Taliban crackdown
Despite efforts to prevent women from attending the conference, like literally pulling them off planes, Afghan women were still successful in organizing and holding a summit to strategize challenging the vicious sex discrimination perpetuated by the Taliban. Meanwhile, Western nations continue to make small but high-visibility gestures to show their disapproval of the Taliban’s apartheid.
Sept 11 - Sex tourism in Indonesia sells itself as Islamic temporary marriage
Turns out it’s not only old, lonely, socially incompetent Western men who are especially attracted to sex tourism in Southeast Asia. Men from the Middle East use hollow termporary (we’re talking like five day-long) marriages as a ruse to purchase women for the men’s sexual pleasure. But the marriage is real on paper, so they can leave Indonesia knowing that they’re still in good religious standing (/s obviously).
Sept 10 - The midwives who stopped murdering girls and started saving them
You’ve heard of the grisly consequences of China’s one-child policy, but China is hardly the only place in the world where the murder of female babies was once a norm.
Sept 10 - Alleged killer of Ugandan Olympian dies from burns, hospital says
The killer of Rebecca Cheptege has himself died. As you may recall, Cheptege was doused in petrol and set alight by an ex-boyfriend as she left church. The ex caught fire himself in the attack, and has now passed as well from his injuries. Senseless violence.
Entertainment
Sept 11 - ESPN's WNBA Viewership Skyrocketed During 2024 Season
Granted, controversy plays a role again, this time around superstar Caitlin Clark. But that is still infinitely better than people only talking about women’s sports because a greasy-haired sex pest man has infiltrated their category.
Dr Raj Persaud posits four hypotheses: 1) wealth allows celebrities more access to transition 2) adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) unique to family stardom trigger mental health symptoms in the children 3) the celebrity parents’ encourage trans identity as part of a need for attention and 4) children born to women who experience pregnancy later in life, as many celebrity women do, are more at-risk of certain mental health conditions, like those that manifest as gender dysphoria.
