Erasing Women and Women’s Safe Spaces
08/01/22 - Trans plan for young offenders rases concerns for girls’ safety
After consulting with NHS personnel, Youth Custody Service is likely to publish recommendations for youth between ages 10 and 18 to be placed in a custodial setting that “affirms” their gender identity. This is no different than allowing men in women’s prisons, and in some ways is even more egregious given the ages of the girls who will be affected.
07/30/22 - BBC ‘disappearing women’ as gender quota filled by trans guests who self-identify
BBC is being called out for its “50:50” diversity quota, which it created with the aim of having an equal number of men and women who participate as guests in its programming. BBC, however, is an entity that recognizes the gender ideologist’s definition of “woman” rather than the sex-based definition. In recent months there have been at least two incidents where discussion panels have been all-male (i.e. men + men who LARP as women), both of which happened to be conversations about women’s sports.
07/27/22 - Joanna Cherry: I nearly quit politics over trans rights backlash
An article capturing the experience of gender critical MP Joanna Cherry. Cherry is one of those few brave politicians willing to openly challenge gender ideology, most notably by arguing how self-ID is harmful to women and girls.
Reproductive Rights
08/03/22 - Georgia residents can claim embryo as a dependent for $3000 on their state taxes
Are you pregnant? Are you in Georgia? Is your baby not due to be born until next year? Good news: now you don’t have to wait until 2024 to file that bun in your oven as a dependent! …in all seriousness, at least Georgia is being consistent with its laws since the state believes a person’s rights begin the moment his/her heartbeat is detected in his/her mom’s womb. We look forward to seeing just how far this logical consistency goes. Are men accountable for child support from the date a heartbeat is detected, too?
08/02/22 - Kansas voters reject effort to eliminate state abortion protections
Kansas has become the first state where voters have been allowed to have a say in what abortion rights look like. Surprisingly for a red state, voters overwhelmingly chose in a referendum that the state recognize that women do have the right to terminate a pregnancy. Is the issue of reproductive rights in the US one in which Republicans are out-of-touch with the desires of their constituents, as they are with gun control? It’s hard to know for sure, but the answer will become more clear over the coming months as California, Kentucky, Montana, and Vermont hold votes similar to Kansas.
Pornography, Sexual Harassment, Violence, and Sexual Assault
07/31/22 - Judge refuses to remove Visa from Pornhub child porn lawsuit
This is big. In short, a judge has ruled that credit card company Visa was complicit with MindGeek, the company that owns Pornhub, in the distribution of child pornography. Both are being sued by a victim who had a sexually exploitative video of herself at 13 circulated on MindGeek sites. If the lawsuit is successful, it will act as a disincentive for mainstream payment services to partner with or financially support icky, unscrupulous, exploitative companies like MindGeek, which will be a blow to the revenue of the latter. Ripples are already felt as both Visa and Mastercard have responded by suspending the use of their cards for payment on MindGeek sites (08/04).
Males in Female Sports
08/01/22 - Transgender cyclist blasts USA Cycling for revoking silver medal
Summary: a man is sad because he doesn’t get to keep a medal he stole in a women’s sports competition.
07/30/22 - Oklahoma Public Schools Making Student Athletes Complete ‘Biological Sex Affidavits’
It’s something, I guess. Oklahoma is one of thirteen states to have enacted a ban on transwomen in female sports. The state’s approach at the school level is to have a child’s parent sign an affidavit confirming the sex of the child at birth in order for the child to play on a sports team. If that sounds silly, it’s because it is silly; but not as silly as the fact that these kinds of measures are necessary at all since a chunk of the population wants to pretend sex dimorphism isn’t a thing.
News Impacting Society and Children
08/03/22 - Judge: West Virgina Medicaid must cover transgender care
A federal judge has ruled in favor of Lambda Legal, and LGBT advocay group, and the transgender individuals it represented in a case against the state of West Virginia. The judge agreed that it is a violation of the Equal Protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment for the state to deny coverage of gender-affirming care. Remind me again how transgenderists are the most oppressed group with the least privileges? When can get I get my insurance to cover electrolysis for me so that I never have to be self-concsious about a stray chin hair again?
Hopefully the dominoes are beginning to fall now that the Tavistock is being shut down. This article covers the position of a psychiatrist who had been a Tavistock whistleblower and is now pointing attention at a similar children’s gender clinic in Scotland.
08/03/22 - Wisconsin school district bans pride flag and pronouns
A school superintendent makes the argument that banning the pride flag and preferred pronouns is consistent with the school policy of not promoting any particular politics or religion. He’s not wrong, and we need to keep making the point that gender ideology is just that — an ideology. It’s unfortunate that the pride flag has been sullied by this misguided movement.
08/03/22 - Iowa school district sued over transgender student policy
Seven families are arguing that an Iowan school policy violates both First Amendment rights of students with gender critical views as well as Fourteenth Amendment rights of parents to have authority over how their children are raised and educated. Mark this as a case to watch!
08/03/22 - Oregon public library funding ‘gender affirming closet’ for students
You’ve heard of food drives, right? This is a news blurb about a public library running a drive for donations of clothes, cosmetics, and accessories for trans youth to have access to use at the local high school in case their mean ol’ parents aren’t running out to buy a new wardrobe the minute the child says he thinks he’s a girl.
07/31/22 - Labour MPs back gender-critical group after conference snub
We had an article a couple weeks ago about how Labour refused an application for a gender critical faction of its party to participate in Labour’s upcoming conference. In a new development, a handful of Labour MPs have written a letter in support of the GC group, asking that Labour reconsider its decision in order to allow diversity of perspective at the conference.
07/31/22 - Police told to stop wasting time on Twitter disputes ‘simply because someone is offended’
An article highlighting the remarks of Stephen Watson, a police chief of Greater Manchester, who believes petty spats are taking up too much police time. This isn’t a specifically woman-forward article, but the topic is timely as women in the West are now literally threatened with fines and jailtime for expressing gender critical views.
07/31/22 - New push to stop Stonewall getting taxpayers’ cash after legal battle raised fears
Side note: is it funny to anyone else that Daily Mail has become a reliable resource for takes that other publications are too “woke” too print? Here DM reviews public sector agencies that are distancing themselves from Stonewall and ones that are remaining loyal.
07/29/22 - Calls to review transgender treatment for kids after British Tavistock Clinic is closed
Scrutiny crosses the seas to Australia.
07/29/22 - Virginia school board members back firing of teacher over pronoun dispute
A teacher in a French class lost his job because he refused to use male pronouns to refer to a female student, insisting instead on only referring to her by her chosen name. The teacher, Peter Vlaming, is arguing that the move by the school board violates free speech protections in federal and state law. Cases like these are important to watch because they’re the US equivalent of the Allison Bailey and Maya Forstater cases in the UK
Entertainment
A shining example of the nonsense that is the non-binary identity, Demi Lovato talks about how she’s been feeling feminine lately, and so she’s cool with she/her again. Name me another protected class and identity that people can just opt-in and out of depending how their feeling day-to-day.
