This just happened Biden says Equal Rights Amendment is ratified, kicking off expected legal battle as he pushes through final executive actions
“It is long past time to recognize the will of the American people. In keeping with my oath and duty to Constitution and country, I affirm what I believe and what three-fourths of the states have ratified: The 28th Amendment is the law of the land, guaranteeing all Americans equal rights and protections under the law regardless of their sex,” Biden said in a statement Friday.
Biden, a senior Biden administration official said, is not taking executive action, but is “stating an opinion that it is ratified.”
“He is using his power of the presidency to make it clear that he believes – and he agrees with leading constitutional scholars and the American Bar Association – not that it should be, but it is the 28th Amendment of the Constitution,” the official added.
But legal experts contend it isn’t that simple: Ratification deadlines lapsed and five states have rescinded their approval, according to the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University’s law school, prompting questions about the president’s authority to ratify the amendment more than 50 years after it first passed.
Some constitutional attorneys say this is valid and this should become published in the bill of rights.
Biden says Equal Rights Amendment should be seen as part of US constitution
Joe Biden announced on Friday that the Equal Rights Amendment should be considered a ratified addition to the US constitution, inserting himself into a long-running legal battle over gender equality just days before he is set to leave office.
However, it is unclear if his statement will have any impact, as under the constitution, presidents do not have any role in the amendment process. And the head of the National Archives has said that the amendment cannot be certified because it was not ratified before a deadline set by Congress.
A senior Biden administration official, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the White House’s plans, told the Associated Press that Biden was not directing the archivist, Dr Colleen Shogan, to certify the amendment.
Jan 14, 2025 - US House passes the “Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2025”
The bill re-asserts original Title IX protections for girls and women’s sports by clarifying women and girls are protected based on sex being female; “sex shall be recognized based solely on a person’s reproductive biology and genetics at birth.” This is a huge win for us.
The victory is not complete however. Item 4 allows males to practice with females which brings up questions about how far this will go in denying girls and women privacy in the locker rooms and the use of resources for female sports.
Most news outlets dishonestly call this a ban on transgender sports. Republicans voted unanimously in favor of this bill. Only 2 Democrats voted in favor of this bill.

According to Singleton, some of the women on her team were from California and had faced this issue before. United in their concerns, the teammates began meeting frequently to discuss their options, she said.

Jan 16, 2025 - Texas judge says states can revive challenge to abortion pill access nationwide
The Texas judge who previously halted approval of the nation’s most common method of abortion ruled Thursday that three states can move ahead with another attempt to roll back federal rules and make it harder for people across the U.S. to access the abortion drug mifepristone.
Idaho, Kansas, and Missouri requested late last year to pursue the case in federal court in Amarillo, Texas, after the U.S. Supreme Court issued a narrow ruling finding that abortion opponents who first filed the case lacked the legal right to sue.
The states want the federal Food and Drug Administration to prohibit telehealth prescriptions for mifepristone and require that it be used only in the first seven weeks of pregnancy instead of the current limit of 10 weeks. They also want to require three in-person doctor office visits instead of none to get the drug. The states argue, efforts to provide access to the pills “undermine state abortion laws and frustrate state law enforcement,” according to court documents.
Jan 15, 2025 - N.J. will stockpile abortion pills, governor says before Trump inauguration
New Jersey will begin stockpiling supplies of a key abortion drug, Gov. Phil Murphy (D) announced, days before President-elect Donald Trump returns to office with Republican majorities in the House and Senate.
“A couple of years ago, New Jersey worked proactively to protect abortion rights,” Murphy said during his State of the State address on Tuesday, in reference to a law he signed months before the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022. “And now we must further secure our reputation as a safe haven for reproductive freedom.”
See where abortions are banned and legal — and where it’s still in limbo
Currently abortion is legal in 30 US states. Seven states have restricted access. Thirteen states have total bans or near total bans without exceptions for rape, incest or preserving the life of the mother.
States where abortion is most limited report higher rates of maternal and infant mortality, as well as greater economic insecurity. The fight over abortion also continues in state legislatures and courts.
Most recently, a Wyoming state judge struck down the state’s total ban on abortion and its ban on abortion pills — ruling that the bans violated the state’s constitution.
In June, the US Supreme Court ruled to allow emergency abortions in Idaho for now and unanimously rejected a lawsuit challenging the Food and Drug Administration’s approach to regulating mifepristone, the first of two drugs used in medication abortion.
The abortion pill will continue to be available to patients via mail, without an in-person doctor’s visit.

Jan 16, 2025 - Social media shock A doctor performed "top surgery" on a nonverbal, disabled woman
Videos and photos are circulating on social media of a woman who is non-verbal, non ambulatory, receiving total care who has undergone gender transition surgery. This woman could not have given consent to this. There are no medical benefits for this surgery or any of the related medicine or procedures. There is no way this woman expressed her sense of self so clearly as to demand this medical process be administered on her.
This is a horrifying example of a vulnerable person being used for medical experimentation in a manner that was deemed unethical in the 1960’s. The care of adults with developmental disabilities who have no guardian or an uninvolved guardian falls under the authority of doctors and state government. The laws of each state vary somewhat, but long term care for adults with developmental disabilities treats a doctor’s orders as legally binding. Therefore a doctor authorized this treatment, while caregivers, managers and supervisors have no authority to refuse to allow it to happen. However, the care team has the right to seek a second opinion from other doctors, a review from a human rights committee which unfortunately rarely challenges medical directives, and additional review processes. The caregiving team had to approve of this to move forward. There is a dispute process in place where questionable therapies can be subject to review before being administered. Sometimes new treatments are tried because they have potential benefits for the specific health problems to individuals receiving care. Many doctors would have objected to this based on a lack of medical data showing any benefit. Medicaid very likely paid for this to be done. Who actually thought the treatment was necessary or beneficial may not be the doctor. The caregiving team may have found a doctor willing to authorize this type of treatment then scheduled appointments with the doctor to get the treatment plan. Caregivers may have believed the woman communicated her wishes to them while likely being given limited choices and possessing no real understanding of the outcome.
Employees in this field are grossly underpaid due to underfunding of long term care disability support programs. That has left this field vulnerable to ideological capture from a wave of trans humanists willing to do the work over the last 20 plus years. Government oversight tends to be data heavy but decision light. This is abhorrent medical experimentation on a person who relies completely on her caregivers to make sound decisions for her and is abuse. The trans ideology seeks to erode the barriers of consent and this woman’s medical abuse is proof of that.
This article is extremely disturbing. Reduxx provides superb journalism on important topics that don’t get accurately covered elsewhere, or are ignored by the media completely. The details can be difficult to read. I prefer not to draw attention to the crime but the problem with the justice system the criminal is housed in, which is also the intent of the splendid journalists at Reduxx. However, in the exercise of journalistic integrity, they must report details I prefer not to dwell on. Read at your own discretion.
An Australian man received an unusually light sentence for his crimes after claiming to be transgendered and that the commitment of his crimes helped him validate his identity. The man severely abused and exploited his 5 year old daughter on numerous occasions with ample video evidence. Criminals who qualify for lengthy sentences are finding courts more lenient when they claim to be transgendered. This is an appalling manipulation of the justice system. This man will be able to be free in Australia in two and a half years. He was sentenced to 4 years 9 months when the maximum is 25 years. The judge noted that the sentence was lenient and lower than the standard for this type of crime citing his transgender experience as mitigating factors.
Jan 15, 2025 - After 50 years, several women’s studies programs on chopping block
Some of the oldest women’s studies programs in American higher education are on the chopping block in red and blue states, giving rise to questions about the future of such programs. While some scholars point to conservative politicians’ crackdown on ideological programs and fear more is to come under Republican leadership at the state and federal levels, others say many programs have strayed from their original focus: women. Throughout academia, “‘women’s studies’ became ‘gender studies’ and finally these programs (and the elite academy writ large) no longer knew how to define or defend women and their true interests,” she said.
Jan 15, 2025 - New U. Kansas ‘Trans Studies Initiative’ advances ‘ideological agenda,’ conservative activist says
The University of Kansas launched a new “Trans Studies Initiative” this school year to “study questions of trans life” and host events for LGBTQ students. One conservative activist rational person told The College Fix that the new program is being used to advance an “ideological agenda.” However, the state legislature has the potential to intervene. The program, funded by a $1 million grant from the Mellon Foundation, will partner with the school’s Center for Sexuality and Gender Diversity to organize social events and activities for LGBTQ students.

Jan 13, 2025 - North Dakota State U. pledge against ‘violence in language’ raises free speech concerns
The pledge raises concerns about the suppression of free speech. Legal experts have raised questions about the constitutionality of certain diversity, equity, and inclusion goals at North Dakota State University, including a “statement of inclusivity” opposing “violence in language or in action.”
Attorney Zach Greenberg, a fellow with Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, expressed concerns about the vague language in the statement, saying “’Violence in language’ could be interpreted a variety of different ways.”
“If it’s interpreted to mean offensive speech, and the statement is enforced to stifle such speech, then this would pose free speech issues. It depends on how the statement is interpreted and enforced,” Greenberg told The College Fix in a recent email.

I used to work with Intellectually Disabled young people. One commonality I noticed was a tendency to be up with the zeitgeist and a demand to be part of it. A few months ago I wrote to a couple of Australian MPs saying... would you even THINK of performing gender affirming surgery on an Intellectually disabled person, that is already a lifelong medical patient? If not, then why the hell are we butchering perfectly healthy children?????
Because, ofcourse, I assumed the answer would be NO.
